Fortunately the South Coast track has no bookings or quotas limiting the number of hikers per day and it is very unlikely for the track to get busy even during summer months. The only fee that you have to pay is a general entry permit to Tasmanian National Park, the most cost effective being the two months Holiday Pass for $30 per person or $60 per vehicle (up to 8 people) which provide entry to all National Parks in Tasmania.

National Park Holiday Pass can be purchased:

2.    Service Tasmania Shops, National Park Visitor Centres & Travel Information Centres
4.    Spirit of Tasmania
6.    via phone (03 6233 2621), fax (03 62 238308) or email parkfees@parks.tas.gov.au
